Think Forward, Think Risk is the motto for the Risk and Insurance Management Society’s (RIMS) 2010 conference and exhibition which will focus on risk management and insurance. This risk management event is the largest gathering of risk management practitioners in the world with approximately ten thousand participants including more than 400 exhibitors who together will tackle the key issues facing the industry. One key issue under focus will be chemical risk management; companies that handle toxic and flammable chemicals are required but struggle to follow many federal, state and local laws and regulations to ensure the risks posed by these materials are managed safely. Southern Gas Association’s (SGA) Safety and Health Roundtable in its Environmental, Safety and Health, Training and HR Generalist Conference will focus on safety and health in the natural gas industry. The purpose of the Safety and Health Roundtable is to educate organizations on regulatory and legislative issues which affect them and on the critical elements of an effective safety culture. Attending organizations will face questions about their own safety culture including how leadership supports safety and how accountability for safety has been embraced.
