DHS Chemicals of Interest

Department of Homeland Security

As a strategic partner, Safetec is committed to easing safety and regulatory burdens placed on EHS professionals.

Agencies are constantly revising current regulations and adding new ones. Safetec recognizes that keeping up with these continual changes places a significant burden on EHS professionals. Therefore, Safetec has developed a regulatory database designed to match applicable regulations to chemicals on material safety data sheets in your collection. All regulations in The Safetec System are updated on a routine basis to ensure you have the most current and accurate information. Within seconds, you have access to detailed regulatory reports, helping you comply in a timely manner.

The Safetec System’s database includes the finalized version of the Department of Homeland Security’s Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Chemicals of Interest list. When a chemical in your facility is recognized to be on the list, the system will trigger a requirement to complete and submit an online consequence assessment tool called a Top-Screen.

Using the information gathered through the Top-Screen, the DHS is better able to make a preliminary determination as to whether a facility presents a high level of security risk and if it must comply with the substantive requirements of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).

Safetec provides the complete DHS Chemicals of Interest List for those interested.
